What is Team Gravity Vault?

Team Gravity Vault is a recreational and competitive youth rock climbing team for kids ages 7-19.  Team membership options vary from 1-3 practices per week to best accommodate you & your child’s schedule.  Team members will be trained to compete in USA Climbing Youth Competitions but are not required to compete.  Competitions range from October - April and are chosen by each family based on the date and location that works best for them.

Team Tryout Week Things To Know

  • Team Tryout Week is from January 13th to January 20th for kids ages 7-19.
  • New team members who sign up during Team Tryout Week will pay a prorated fee for the remainder of the month, and the first full payment is due February 1st, 2024.
  • Competitive climbing experience is not required
  • Climbing equipment will be provided for the tryout

Benefits of signing up for Team Gravity Vault during Team Tryout Week

  • $50 retail credit to our pro-shop
    • Must sign-up before 8 pm on Saturday, January 20th to be eligible!
    • This retail credit can be used to help get your child started with the equipment they will need to train (harness, shoes, chalk bag, chalk).

  • What time is team practice?
    • Practice times
      • Competitive and Recreational Tuesday 6:00 pm-8:00 pm
      • Competitive and Recreational Thursday 6:00 pm -8:00 pm
      • Competitive and Recreational Saturday 11:30 am-1:30 pm
      • Basic Track Team Practice 9:00 am-11:00 am
    • What practices can my child come to?
      • Most of our team members start for our basic track team and progress from there.  
      • Our coaches may recommend going straight to our Competitive or Recreational teams.
        • Competitive and Recreational team members can choose a membership for 1, 2, or 3 practices a week and can attend any of the 3 practices each week.  
        • Practices are recorded on a week-by-week basis and do not roll over.
      • Competitions
        • Team Gravity Vault competes in USA Climbing competitions.
        • Competition season runs from Fall through early Spring
        • USA Climbing publishes a new competition schedule each year. You may attend any competition, but the coaches may recommend your climber attends specific ones
        • Competitions are optional but we always encourage our climbers to try one each season, preferably our at home competition.

    • Children should wear comfortable workout clothes.  The gym will provide a harness and climbing shoes for the tryout.
  • How long is the tryout?
    • The team tryout takes approximately 15-30 minutes.
  • What to bring?
    • A water bottle
  • Who will the tryout be with?
    • One of our team coaches will be facilitating the tryout session
  • What is the purpose of a team tryout?
    • The team tryout allows our coaching team to understand your child’s climbing level and recommend a climbing program that best fits your child.
  • Outcomes of a team tryout
    • After your child’s team tryout, our coach will recommend a team or kid’s class that aligns best with your child’s interests and abilities.

  • Free Belay Class for all team parents
  • 10% off gear in our pro shop
  • 1 Free guest pass to use each calendar month (does not roll over)
