Class contents...
- Stretch and strengthen the “opposing muscles” used for climbing
- Learn how to use Therabands and yoga straps to slowly open the chest, shoulders and hamstrings
- Begin to understand proper alignment and body positioning for movement and posture
- Increase “muscle intelligence” known as schemas
- Work slowly to build flexibility & strength
- Gain preventive knowledge for finger, shoulder, and wrist injuries.
About the instructor...
Shawnee holds a 200-hour education in the principles of Alignment, Hatha, and therapeutic yoga as well as adding on her yin & restorative training. She believes that yoga is simultaneously a language and a dance; one in which we are all capable of learning. A Gunks local and passionate climber, she is no stranger to climbing related injuries and the mental blocks that can often arise. After a decade of traveling the world to climb, she landed herself in the Hudson Valley to share the unique, symbiotic relationship yoga has with climbing.
