Team Coach
Job Category: Junior Climbing Teams
Job Description:

As a Team Coach for The Gravity Vault you will facilitate the training for our Youth Climbing Teams.  In the Team Coach role you will have the opportunity to work with other coaching staff to develop and execute training regimens, practice schedules, technique lessons and more. You will mentor the kids as they progress through our program and help them to achieve their climbing goals. 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise climbers at practices.
  • Motivate the kids and empower them to reach new heights.
  • Maintain an encouraging, yet competitive environment which upholds The Gravity Vault's Mission Statement.
  • Attend Competitions with the team.
  • Communicate with Climbers and Parents on goals and achievements.
Requirements:
  • Competition Climbing Experience Preferred.
  • USA Climbing Coaches Certification Preferred.
  • Excellent Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Experience Coaching an individual/team sport at the Youth Level.

Route Setter
Job Category: Gym Staff
Job Description:

The Route Setters are some of the most important contributors at The Gravity Vault. Route Setters are responsible for all of the climbing routes and problems in our facilities. We look for creative individuals who love climbing and are experienced setters. 

Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Setting Routes and Problems.
  • Set up and cleanup of Setting Safety Zones.
  • Fore Running your Routes/Problems.
  • PT 2 8 hours shifts per week

Requirements

  •  Indoor and outdoor climbing experience including bouldering and sport climbing
  • Ability to Route Set 5.12 and V8 level climbs
  • Ability to stand, climb, and work for extended periods on uneven surfaces including infront and behind climbing wall structures
  • Ability to lift, carry, and haul loads of up to 50 pounds for short periods of time over uneven surfaces
  • Ability to sit and suspend from a wall in a harness for extended periods of time at heights up to 40 feet, including proper use of work at height PPE according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Ability to safely move, place, operate and stand on ladders according to manufacturer's instructions
  • Ability to use hand and power tools with applicable PPE according to manufacturer's instructions
  • Ability to follow and perform emergency rescue procedures
  • CPR/AED, and Basic First Aid Certification

Preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year of sport and bouldering setting experience
  • Climbing Wall Association Work At Height Certification or similar training
  • USA Climbing Route Setting Membership and Level 1 Certification

Job Description:

Instructor/Front Desk

At The Gravity Vault Marin Indoor Rock Climbing Gym, we empower our team members to create a dynamic training and recreational environment that promotes inclusion for individuals from all walks of life. We share the common goal of making Gravity Vault Marin a great place to climb and build community, and we want you to help us achieve this.

As an Instructor for Gravity Vault Marin, you are the face of the business. You are the primary point of contact for every customer interaction. From front desk check-in to event coordination, you are a customer facing team member that gets things done right the first time. Instructors work directly under the supervision of the management team and coaching staff to ensure a consistent positive customer experience is reached on a daily basis.

 Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Front Desk Operations: Answering phones, collection of customer information and payments. Must be present and attentive to the customers needs at all times.
  • Belay Checks: Review safety standards for ALL individuals entering the gym from initial visitors to returning members.
  • Staff Belay Participation: belay first time visitors or members to enhance their gym climbing experience. Operate as support staff during classes and team programs.
  • Party and Event Coordination: Work directly with the management team to ensure all parties and events exceed customer expectations. You will be the primary point of contact for the party / event host. The ability to positively interact with customers and prioritize their needs is a must.
  • Cleaning and Organization: Must have an attention to detail. Our retail and gym space requires routine cleaning on a daily basis. Instructors are required to execute daily cleaning regiments.

 Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Enjoy working with young children and adults
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative environment
  • Open to learning and developing skills as a climbing class instructor

Shift Supervisor

Job Description:

As a Shift Supervisor for Gravity Vault Marin, you will facilitate the daily success of the gym through your leadership support skills. Working directly in the leadership team, you will assist in the daily operations of the building, mentor the Instructor Staff to ensure our service exceeds customers expectations, and verify our safety standards are being upheld at all times during your shift. Instructors and Customers will look to you for solutions at any given time. Your ability to demonstrate a positive attitude while solving the issue or concern at hand is critical to our success.

Responsibilities:

  • Front Desk Operational Supervision: Oversee the facilities operation and flow of activities. Must possess the ability to facilitate Instructors’ workflow through the day. Understand how to prioritize responsibilities in order to maintain a productive gym environment. Coordinate with management on daily retention and acquisition activities.
  • Supervise staff daily schedules / ensuring adequate coverage for daily activities. Review / adjust staffing levels as needed to meet business demands.
  • Direct oversight of membership contract establishment and event payment processing.
  • Verify / document membership perks and privileges. 
  • Report on shift operations, including any issues or successes, to upper management maintaining clear and effective communication with both staff and management.
  • Execute / document corrective action (verbal / written) when necessary to elevate staff performance.
  • Provide direct feedback to staff members to elevate performance.
  • Safety Standards: Ensure all Instructors are held to the safety standards demonstrated in training. Inspect all areas of the gym for safety and cleanliness.
  • Staff Belay Coordination: Review and coordinate Instructor Staff positioning to maximize positive experience for all customers throughout the entirety of the day.
  • Cleaning and Organization: Review, oversee and execute the completion of the daily cleaning regiment throughout the gym. Verify all merchandise in the retail space is neat and organize

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Involvement in training procedures for rescue situations and safety protocols
