After School Rocks is the perfect class for kids ages 7 to 12 that are just getting started as well as those who have taken classes before and are interested in taking their climbing to the next level. This class provides an environment where kids can build strength, confidence, and independence. Our experienced instructors will lead a class every week for six consecutive weeks. We also add a make-up week at the end, so no worries if you miss one.

1.5 hours per week, 6 week session, No experience necessary.

Wednesdays, Mar 1st - Apr 12th

$261 per session for Members, $290 per session for Non-members

The Intermediate I and II Teams are for climbers that have limited climbing experience and are interested in taking climbing to the next level. They need to have basic knowledge of top roping and bouldering as well as have the ability to effectively use their feet to position their body while climbing. One or two-hour training session per week.  Ages 8-18.

Optional competitions are in January through March in the Norcal Youth Climbing League.

Intermediate I meets once a week - sign up for either Tuesday or Thursday. $170 per month including membership

Optional competitions are highly recommended and take place in January through March in the Norcal Youth Climbing League.

For first-time climbers, this course is designed to get participants off the ground and on the wall! With a 5:1 student to instructor ratio, our staff will get you fitted with all the necessary gear and select routes best suited to your success. In this 1.5 hour class, your instructors will belay you as well as have you try the auto-belays, to ensure you have lots of time climbing.

$38 per person including gear.

Prerequisites: Ages 14+

Wednesdays every 4 weeks.

Learn to climb and manage the top rope systems and auto belays in a classroom setting. In this two hour class, you will learn everything you need to know to top rope belay at Gravity Vault Marin. Time permitting, there will be time to climb and belay on the walls and learn about basic climbing technique. Perfect for those looking to climb on our roped walls without the assistance of an instructor. Ages 14+. Shoes and harness included.

Here's how it works:

• Competition runs Sunday, March 5th through Sunday, March 12th. 
• All levels welcome, lots of climbing divisions:
  - Age Divisions: 7-13, 14-54, 55+
  - Climbing Level Divisions: Recreation - up to 10b and V2, Advanced - up to 5.12 and V6 (based on the hardest route you send)
• The routes and problems will be labeled ahead of time – DO NOT climb them before you start the competition.
• Pricing: Members $7.50, Non-Members $10 - PLUS Free T-Shirt for all competitors!

• Anytime during the week-long competition, find a partner and pick up your score card from the front desk. From the moment you pick up the score card, you will have 3 hours to complete the event.
• The score card will provide details on the scoring as well as the point values for each route and problem.
• Scoring is on the honor system - your belayer or a partner must witness each climb and sign their initials on the score card.
• Your top 5 scores are included in your overall score and must include at least 2 rope climbs and 2 boulder problems.
• Your placement in the recreation or advanced categories will be based on the hardest route you send.
• You are allowed a maximum of 3 attempts per route or problem.
  • • A flash gives you full points for that route or boulder. (A flash is when you climb from the ground to the top on your first attempt with no falls or hangs)
    • Sends on the 2nd or 3rd attempt will have 5 points deducted from route/boulder points. (Sends are when you climb from the ground to the top with no falls or hangs or weighting the rope)

The Advanced Team is for climbers who have well-rounded climbing technique. As a feeder program for our Competitive Climbing Team, this group will be tested physically and mentally both on and off the wall. Two two-hour training sessions per week. Ages 8-18. $235 per month including membership. 

Optional competitions are highly recommended and take place in January through March in the Norcal Youth Climbing League.

Sarah Steen, RYT-500, has been delighting in the discoveries of yoga since first stepping onto a mat in 1998.  She began teaching in 2003 and soon after became a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.  Using yoga philosophy, mindful sequencing, breath practices, and a bit of humor, she creates classes to encourage students to build awareness both on and off the mat.

If you are ready to tie into the sharp end, this class is for you! We will teach you the skills needed to lead climb indoors. This class is held in two 2.5 hour sessions with a 6:1 student to instructor ratio.

Part A: Instruction of clipping techniques and positions, lead belaying, rope management, and more. We will set up “mock lead” situations to allow low-risk practice of lead belaying and climbing techniques. We will work on gaining the confidence and skills needed to transition from mock leading to the real thing.

Part B: This session will focus on honing your technique and getting you prepared to take the lead test. We will practice taking and catching lead falls and work on specific challenges you are facing. We will offer you tips and instructor-facilitated practice in order to prepare you to lead climb independently!

Prerequisites: Top-rope belay certified. Ability to consistently and confidently climb 5.10a or higher. Ages 15+

Learn to climb and manage the top rope systems and auto belays in a classroom setting. In this two hour class, you will learn everything you need to know to top rope belay at Gravity Vault Marin. Time permitting, there will be time to climb and belay on the walls and learn about basic climbing technique. Then this class is for you! Fight Gravity 1 covers climbing fundamentals and key techniques you'll need to progress to the next level. You’ll learn body positioning, hold types, and footwork. The Intermediate I and II Teams are for climbers that have limited climbing experience and are interested in taking climbing to the next level. They need to have basic knowledge of top roping and bouldering as well as have the ability to effectively use their feet to position their body while climbing. One or two-hour training session per week.  Ages 8-18.

Optional competitions are in January through March in the Norcal Youth Climbing League.

Ages 8-18. $235 per month including membership. 

Optional competitions are highly recommended and take place in January through March in the Norcal Youth Climbing League.

A yoga class with a special focus on alignment. The ideal class for all levels. Led by Sarah Steen.

Sarah Steen, RYT-500, has been delighting in the discoveries of yoga since first stepping onto a mat in 1998.  She began teaching in 2003 and soon after became a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.  Using yoga philosophy, mindful sequencing, breath practices, and a bit of humor, she creates classes to encourage students to build awareness both on and off the mat.

Have you been climbing a while and are ready to break out of the 5.10’s? The Fight Gravity 2 class is perfect for climbers who want to apply fundamental skills and techniques to climbs that feel out of reach. In this class, our staff will teach you to "project" a route and really start pushing yourself. Course elements include footwork, resting, sequencing, and projecting. We offer a 6:1 student to instructor ratio for this 2 hour class.

Prerequisites:

• Climbing 5.10a - 5.10d and/or V1-V2 comfortably
• Personal climbing shoes and harness recommended
• Ages 14+

Available Wednesdays ever 8 weeks.

A yoga class with a special focus on alignment. The ideal class for all levels. Led by Sarah Steen.

Sarah Steen, RYT-500, has been delighting in the discoveries of yoga since first stepping onto a mat in 1998.  She began teaching in 2003 and soon after became a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.  Using yoga philosophy, mindful sequencing, breath practices, and a bit of humor, she creates classes to encourage students to build awareness both on and off the mat.

If you are ready to tie into the sharp end, this class is for you! We will teach you the skills needed to lead climb indoors. This class is held in two 2.5 hour sessions with a 6:1 student to instructor ratio.

Part A: Instruction of clipping techniques and positions, lead belaying, rope management, and more. We will set up “mock lead” situations to allow low-risk practice of lead belaying and climbing techniques. We will work on gaining the confidence and skills needed to transition from mock leading to the real thing.

Part B: This session will focus on honing your technique and getting you prepared to take the lead test. We will practice taking and catching lead falls and work on specific challenges you are facing. Learn to climb and manage the top rope systems and auto belays in a classroom setting. In this two hour class, you will learn everything you need to know to top rope belay at Gravity Vault Marin. Time permitting, there will be time to climb and belay on the walls and learn about basic climbing technique. Perfect for those looking to climb on our roped walls without the assistance of an instructor. Ages 14+. Shoes and harness included.

Little Rocker's Kids’ Classes at The Gravity Vault are designed for children aged 5-6. Our experienced instructors will lead a class every week for six consecutive weeks. Sarah Steen, RYT-500, has been delighting in the discoveries of yoga since first stepping onto a mat in 1998.  She began teaching in 2003 and soon after became a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.  Using yoga philosophy, mindful sequencing, breath practices, and a bit of humor, she creates classes to encourage students to build awareness both on and off the mat.

With a 5:1 student to instructor ratio, our staff will get you fitted with all the necessary gear and select routes best suited to your success. Learn to climb and manage the top rope systems and auto belays in a classroom setting. In this two hour class, you will learn everything you need to know to top rope belay at Gravity Vault Marin. Time permitting, there will be time to climb and belay on the walls and learn about basic climbing technique. Perfect for those looking to climb on our roped walls without the assistance of an instructor. Ages 14+. Shoes and harness included.
