Instructor

Job Description:

The majority of the staff in our facility are instructors. We look for individuals with a work hard/play hard attitude who want to work in an exciting, dynamic, customer facing roll. 

Job responsibilities include:
  • Belaying for Programs
  • Coordinating Birthday Parties
  • Working at the Front Desk
  • Customer Service
Requirements: 
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Good attitude
  • Flexible availability; weekend availability strongly preferred
  • Patience
  • Strong communication skills

Team Coach
Job Category: Junior Climbing Teams
Job Description:

As a Team Coach for The Gravity Vault you will facilitate the training for our Youth Climbing Teams.  In the Team Coach role you will have the opportunity to work with other coaching staff to develop and execute training regimens, practice schedules, technique lessons and more. You will mentor the kids as they progress through our program and help them to achieve their climbing goals. 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise climbers at practices.
  • Motivate the kids and empower them to reach new heights.
  • Maintain an encouraging, yet competitive environment which upholds The Gravity Vault's Mission Statement.
  • Attend Competitions with the team.
  • Communicate with Climbers and Parents on goals and achievements.
Requirements:
  • Competition Climbing Experience Necessary.
  • USA Climbing Coaches Certification.
  • Excellent Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Experience Coaching an individual/team sport at the Youth Level.
Route Setter
Job Category: Gym Staff
Job Description:

The Route Setters are some of the most important contributors at The Gravity Vault. Route Setters are responsible for all of the climbing routes and problems in our facilities. We look for creative individuals who love climbing and are experienced setters. 

Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Setting Routes and Problems
  • Set up and cleanup of Setting Safety Zones
  • Forerunning your Routes/Problems
Requirements:
  • Ability to Climb a 5.13+ and V8+
  • Prior Experience Route Setting
  • Ability to set creative Routes
  • Competition Setting experience a strong plus

Summer Camp Instructor
Job Category: Camp
Job Description:

We have 3 different Camp programs we run in the summer: Summer Rocks, Camp Rocks, and Break Camp. Summer Rocks is a week-long full-day climbing camp for kids ages 7-14 where camp instructors will teach climbing skills and participate in exciting camp activities such as Slacklining, Crate Stacking, Rappelling, Climbing Movies, and Tie-dye T-shirts. Camp Rocks is run similarly but with 2 outdoor climbing days (weather permitting). And Break Camp is a half-day camp for ages 5-13 where they can sign up for either a full week or 1 day at a time. Our goal is to provide a thrilling experience for young climbers, both experienced and new to the sport. We are looking for camp counselors that will work with the young climbers to foster a growth in strength, technique, confidence, and friendship building.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively supervising campers ages varying from 5-15.

  • Ability to top-rope belay a climber while also engaging with others kids through conversation.

  • Ensure camp participants compliance with Gym Policies.

  • Catering a climbing experience that suits the level of experience of the camp participant.

How do you know if you’re the right candidate?

  • Are you comfortable belaying a group of kids on your own while still collaborating with a team?

  • Do you have the stamina to keep up with 5-15 year old’s bursting with energy?

  • Do you have the enthusiasm and positive energy needed to work with kids?

Job Requirements:

  • At least 16 years of age.

  • Minimum of 2 months experience working with camp – age children, with 1 year preferred, in either a professional, personal or volunteer setting.
