Assistant Gym Manager

Job Description:

The Gravity Vault management team is growing! We're looking for an outgoing and energetic individual with a strong work ethic to join our team as an Assistant Manager. As an integral part of the management team, the Assistant Manager will work closely with the Manager to ensure that the gym is clean, runs smoothly, and goals are being met. They must also help create a positive and inclusive climbing environment for climbers of all experience levels, and have fun while doing it.

Basic job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers in person, over the phone, and via email correspondence.
  • Become an expert on all programs and options to climb with The Gravity Vault.
  • Ensure company and brandwide standards are met, and that all employees are updated and comply with The Gravity Vault's policies and procedures on programming, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Help plan, execute, and work location and brandwide events including but not limited to climbing competitions and member nights.
  • Coordinate staffing for events, classes, and instructor led climbing options.
  • Help train and manage all Shift Leader, Belayer, and Front Desk Employees.
Job Requirements:
  • Management experience in a climbing gym, fitness facility, or retail setting
  • Ability to take initiative and make confident decisions on the fly
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Indoor / outdoor climbing experience is a plus
  • CPR/ First Aid required and CWI certification is a plus

As an Assistant Team Coach at The Gravity Vault, you will have the opportunity to work with our coaching staff to develop and execute training regimens, practice schedules, technique lessons and more. You will mentor the kids as they progress through our program and help them to achieve their climbing goals.

  • Supervise climbers at practices
  • Motivate the kids and empower them to reach new heights

The Gravity Vault in Hoboken, NJ is looking for highly energetic individuals to work in our Corporate Flagship facility as Belayers. Our Belayers are the staff on the climbing floor and are the embodiment of The Gravity Vault mission statement. They belay, instruct, and motivate new and returning climbers during staff led events for both kids and adults. We need people who are going to provide exceptional customer/climbing experiences for climbers of all abilities and ages!

Basic job duties include but are not limited to providing excellent climbing experiences for all ages and abilities, the ability to instruct and give direction to large groups of people, belaying individuals for different staff led programs including private sessions, team building programs, birthday parties, and classes, and maintaining a clean and safe facility.

 All candidates must be willing to make the customer experience a priority, and engage with climbers to keep them excited for climbing at The Gravity Vault!

Our Front Desk Staff are the first to greet every person that enters the gym and are the embodiment of The Gravity Vault mission statement. They insure every person regardless of identity, age, or experience feels welcomed to a safe, fun, and clean climbing environment. We need people who pride themselves on a job well done, excel in providing exceptional customer/climbing experiences, who are goal and detail oriented, eager, and who are willing to perform the daily tasks needed to maintain a clean gym and welcoming community.  

Basic job duties include but are not limited to retail and membership sales, informing members and new climbers of different programming options, answering the phone, teaching top rope belay certification class, and booking staff led events.

Marketing Coordinator

The Gravity Vault Indoor Rock Gyms is a fast-paced growing company looking to add a Marketing Coordinator to our corporate team.

The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for building brand awareness to ultimately introduce as many people to the exciting sport of rock climbing at The Gravity Vault. This individual will also be responsible for improving customer engagement and retention with the goal of increasing the company’s revenue.  Our ideal candidate is an active, self-starter with a marketing background, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced demanding environment. If you think you have what it takes to take our marketing to the next level, we want to hear from you.

*Position is based in Hoboken but must have the ability to travel to Upper Saddle River, Chatham and Montclair locations 1-2 times per week and franchise locations 1-2 times per year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute and manage our marketing and communication plans for all locations to drive sales and achieve membership targets 
  • Manage website content for all locations and develop SEO strategies
  • Expand our current social media presence and generate on-brand content to inform customers and prospects of products, services and events
  • Develop a media plan and define distribution channels for commercials
  • Organize, promote and manage member and charity events as well as competitions
  • Develop and execute a PR plan for the company
  • Assist in the creation and design of marketing materials for corporate and franchise locations
  • Track and report on the performance of all marketing campaigns
  • Present ideas and final deliverables to the Corporate Management team and communicate on marketing programs, strategies and budgets
  • Learn the operational components of our Franchising business and assist with sales, training and site visits with the goal of helping franchisees improve their marketing and creating a synergistic image to all members across the brand.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or Hospitality 
  • 1-2 years of related marketing experience including digital and social media marketing 
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel as necessary
